Help me reach my Goal!

by Marcela Zapien-Teran

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or Autism for short, is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people communicate and interact with the world. Some challenges include difficulty communicating, socializing being over or under-sensitive to loud noises, lights, smells, and behavioral difficulties.

Our story begins when we noticed Mia's constant communication struggles and little progress from speech therapy. We also noticed social struggles with other kids at daycare that didn't seem quite right. During our routine 3-yr checkup, we asked Mia's pediatrician for help. Within several weeks and after numerous evaluations, we finally had answers. Mia was diagnosed with Autism in March of 2022. Fast forward to the daily Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy at home and weekly speech and occupational therapy (during a pandemic!), Mia has made great strides with her communication and social skills. It is because of therapy & resources that she is getting the help she needs.

We hope you can help support our fundraising goal!
