Adopt A Family Application

ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES 

  • All applicants must have legal guardianship
  • All applicants listed must live in the same household.
  • Immediate Family Members only, please. Excludes extended family members.
  • Applications for individuals with Autism and/or ID/DD must be living with an immediate family member. .
  • Applications for siblings must be 17 yrs. and under living in the same household.
  • Must reside in San Bernadino or Riverside Counties.  

*Families who have not previously been adopted will be given priority. Acceptance is not based solely on income; special circumstances will be highly considered.  


APPLICATION PROCESS  


Each family must complete their application by November 14, 2023. The Autism Society Inland Empire will review the applications and select the families that qualify. Families will be notified by email about the status of their application by the end of November. Please note that we get an overwhelming number of phone calls during Adopt-A-Family. The best way to reach out to our team about your status is by emailing [email protected]. 


NOTE: Submitting an application does not guarantee participation or adoption in the program. Each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and prioritized based on the level of need, with new families and those with the greatest need being priority one. 


The purpose of the Adopt-A-Family program is to provide your child(ren) with small tokens of appreciation. It is not meant to provide everything on your child’s wish list. Please be mindful of this as sponsors are participating in the program to help you this holiday season. Below are some guidelines to help with your application.

  • Please submit a detailed application for your children’s gift requests.
  • Please do not put anything on your list that exceeds $40 per child such as computers, iPads, bicycles, or other expensive items.
  • Gift requests should range between $20 and $30 per child.
  • If you ask for clothing or footwear, please indicate sizes.
  • Please do not ask for gift cards for gifts. Note: Sponsors are instructed not to send gift cards. If gift cards are requested, your application will be denied. 

GIFT PICK UP 

Please note, there are no shipping options for Adopted families. You must be able to pick-up your gifts from a designated public location. 

Note: For the safety of all our participants, we are asking families to meet with an Autism Society Inland Empire staff member to pick up their gifts from one of 8 public locations. We will email adopted families their corresponding date and time at a later date.
